I will say I am constantly inspired by all of the brilliant makers I have seen on Pinterest and other sites like Instagram. Their creativity pushes me to try new things as often as I can.
This particular pattern was inspired by Krista over at Rescued Paw Designs.
She had made a super cute Crochet Ear Warmer Pattern and I just knew I had to make something
similar with one of my favorite crochet stitches. The Moss Stitch is a go-to stitch when I’m making statement pieces like scarves, cowls and my latest slouchy beanie hat with a pompom.
I also knew how much my girls would enjoy the “bow” looked that happens when a headwrap is gathered in a certain spot.
This little ear warmer worked up in less than 20 minutes!
That is one bright side to patterns that use larger hooks and chunky yarns 🙂
With 3 girls surrounding me I knew I needed something I could make quickly in quantities of 3. This pattern is perfect for accomplishing just that!
What I Used:
- N Hook
- 1 Skein Chunky Lions BRand Yarn
- Tapestry Needle
CH 44 (sl st together without twisting; CH 2)
R1 – Moss Stitch (sc, ch 1) all the way around; sl st to CH 2 space; CH1
R2 – 8 enter your stitch marker here then you will continue around and around with the moss stitch until your work measures 3-4in high. Whenever height you prefer works. For mine it measured a little over 3″.
When you get to the end you will sl st and tie off leaving an extra long tail. You will be using this tail to wrap around the band giving it the “bow” look.
Using your tapestry needle weave in the remainder of the tail.
I really love how it turned out!
I plan to make a few more in other colors. I think a mustard yellow, brown and cream would look beautiful in this same chunky yarn.
You can easily adjust this for an adult by adding more CHs in the beginning. You can measure your own head and then make your beginning CHs according to your measurements.
I always have to do this with other’s patterns. Apparently I have a gargantuan head and I am never able to fit into the patterns written for adults. So this is a really easy pattern to adapt for any size you’re needing.
I’m biased but….she’s just so cute!
I really hope you enjoy making this pattern! If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to leave a comment.
I will do my best to help you as much as I can!
